Thank You For Afterlifing With Us (2021) by Huckleberry Hax

A PINK DAWN NOVEL

Thirty years after his girlfriend persuaded him to get a brain scan with her, Jason Harlan wakes up in the metaverse to discover he’s been dead for twenty-eight years. But where exactly is Rachel Petstoof, now that her own death has triggered his activation? And who has the millions that Jason accrued over his singing career? And what happened to him in the two years between his scan and the car crash in which he died?

PREVIOUSLY PUBLISHED AS ‘BESIDE AN OPEN WINDOW’

“Hax asks all the right questions about how these technologies impact all levels of the human experience and he does it in a way that is full of wit and acuity.” (Amazon review of Beside An Open Window)

A portrait of a future in which the digital dead exist alongside the living, Thank You For Afterlifing With Us probes the nature of consciousness, of the sensory word we inhabit and the nature of human emotion.

  1. As I’ve been neglecting my own blog I’m a bit sporadic reading others. I want to tell you though that your work is clever and brilliant and fun to read, I never thought I’d say that about VR storytelling! Your images are fantastic too. Also wishing you luck on your next video venture and adventure. Stomol was great.
