Over the years, there have been a couple of book projects that have gotten themselves stuck in my very own version of development hell. ‘Sim‘ was one of them, a novella of about 20,000 words which still took me the best part of five years to complete. ‘Once Upon a Time in Second Life’ is another. A collection of four novelettes set in Second Life, I’ve written three of them but can never find the time to write the fourth.
Back in November 2017 I serialised the first story, ‘The Man who Had an Affair With his Wife,’ over a number of blog posts (starting here). It proved to be very popular and my visit tally for that month is one I’ve not yet managed to beat.
I was going to leave it there until I finished the book, even though I’d already written the second story also at that point. Since I can see no opportunity in the immediate future for getting the fourth story done and therefore the book finished – I’m one of those lucky employees whose workload has increased rather than decreased as a result of covid-19 (seriously not complaining about that) – and since everyone’s currently climbing the walls for new online content to break up the monotony of staying at home, I’ve decided to serialise the second story over April.
So check back tomorrow for part one of ‘The man who dated his RL boss (without her knowing it),’ a tale of a guy who finds out by accident that his RL boss just happens to have a Second Life account…
See you tomorrow!
